Meet the Herd

Tony

Dun gelding ᐧ Welsh pony section D ᐧ 13.1 hh

Tony is proof that even the wild ones can grow into some of the most trusted partners for young riders.

Back in his day, Tony loved to jump and was a mount best suited to more advanced young riders. Now, in his semi-retirement, he has found a new calling: helping young riders build their confidence and learn some of their biggest milestones, from their first canter to their first jumps.

Affectionately known as “Tony the Pony,” he loves carrots, scratches, and spending time with his best pal, Luna. These days, there’s nowhere he’d rather be than helping the next generation of riders discover the joy of riding.

Luna

Black mare ᐧ Stock paint ᐧ 16 hh

Luna is our most reliable lady and one of the most familiar faces at AGB. Almost every rider who starts with us has their very first lesson on her.

Amanda received Luna as a gift when Luna was just three years old and has been by her side ever since. From being Amanda’s personal show horse, to becoming a cornerstone of the lesson program, and now enjoying a well-earned semi-retirement, Luna has truly done it all at AGB.

She has spent years teaching riders the basics, building confidence, and showing them what a good partner should feel like. And if there’s one thing Luna is known for, it’s her impeccable steering, no horse rides a straighter line than her!

Kevin

Palomino gelding ᐧ Quarter horse ᐧ 15.3hh

Kevin is another one of our trusted senior lesson horses, with the personality of a golden retriever. He’s incredibly sweet, easygoing, and will happily go wherever you ask, even if that happens to be straight into a wall! Because of this, he’s an excellent teacher of one of the most important riding skills: steering.

Back in his show days, Kevin loved to jump, and still does! These days, his jumps are just a little bit lower. He’s an all-around solid citizen who is always happy to do his job and take care of his riders.

Annie

Dun mare ᐧ Pony ᐧ 14.1 hh

Annie, affectionately nicknamed “Annie Banany,” is the classic pony with a little bit of sass. She knows exactly when to step up and challenge our advanced riders, and when it’s time to take care of a younger or newer rider. Because of this, she perfectly straddles the line between a dependable beginner mount and a fancy, capable ride for more advanced students.

Amanda purchased Annie at just six years old as a green prospect and has brought her along ever since. Today, Annie goes beautifully W/T/C and loves to jump. With her training, athleticism, and ability to adjust to her rider, she gives more experienced students the opportunity to refine their skills while still being a trustworthy partner for those just learning the ropes.

She may be a pony, but Annie has the training and talent to make even our advanced riders work for it, and she knows it

Heiny

Black mare ᐧ Draft cross ᐧ 16hh

Our newest member of the AGB lesson program, Heiny has actually been part of the AGB community for much longer! She first came to AGB as a boarder when she was just three months old, and has since returned.

Heiny spent her time as a show mount for her own rider, and once her rider was ready to move up, Heiny joined the AGB lesson program. She now goes beautifully W/T/C and jumps, making her a great fit for our intermediate to advanced students.

Don’t let her big-boned build fool you, Heiny is an absolute sweetheart. She has a kind, willing personality and loves having a job to do. We’re so excited to officially have her as part of the AGB lesson family and look forward to seeing her make her mark with our riders!

George

Bay mare ᐧ Quarter Horse ᐧ 15.1 hh

Despite her name being George, she is, in fact, a lady, and a sensitive one at that!

George is one of our more advanced lesson horses, as she is sensitive to her rider’s aids and very tuned in to what is happening around her. She is also quite particular about her personal space and has no problem making sure the other horses in the ring know where her boundaries are!

George tries her heart out for her riders and is always willing to put in the effort. She is one of the newer additions to our lesson program, beginning her journey in 2025, and we can’t wait to see all that she accomplishes with her advanced students in the years to come.
