The Lesson Program
Whether you're brand new to horses or looking to grow your skills, our lessons welcome riders aged 7 and up. (See introduction to horses for ages below 7).
Each hour-long lesson is split between ground and the saddle: roughly thirty minutes of grooming and care and thirty minutes of riding. We won’t be getting on until the horse is properly groomed first, because we believe good riding begins with horsemanship.
Out lessons horses vary in temperament and experiences, so whether you’re seven or seventy, well match you with one suited to where you are.
-
1-hour private lesson $60 + HST ($67.80)
1-hour semi-private lesson $55 + HST ($62.15)
Semi-private lessons are for two or more riders at the novice to advanced level, we find beginners do best, and stay safest, one-on-one. Don't have a riding partner? Let us know and we may be able to pair you with another student at your level.

We are often not able to answer the phone mid-lesson, in the saddle, or out on the tractor. Reach us any time at amandasgreenbarn@gmail.com.
Lesson days vary with each instructor's schedule; on average we're booking seven days a week, 10am–8pm. Our schedule fills quickly and weekend spots get tight in summer due to our competition calendar, so share your preferred days and times as early as you can.
Cancellations
We'll cancel for thunder storms, temperatures feeling above or below 32 degrees and heavy rain, our tin roof makes the arena too loud to hear instruction, and it can spook the horses. We'll most likely notify you by email, so check before you head out if the weather looks uncertain.
We ask for at least 12 hours' notice to cancel. Under 12 hours, a $15 fee applies (waived for weather); no-shows are charged the full lesson.
-
Winter
Lessons run all year. Our arena isn't heated, so dress for the weather, though spectators can warm up in our heated lounge. Winter boots and gloves are available through local tack stores; ask your coach for recommendations.
Summer
We ride outdoors as much as the weather allows, between our outdoor ring and riding field, and move inside when it isn't cooperating. Trail rides are offered to regular lesson students only, in summer , not as a stand-alone attraction.
Introduction to Horses
Ages 4-8
| Summer, every second Wednesday |
Designed for young and beginning riders, these introductory lessons provide a calm, supportive environment for developing confidence, balance, and foundational horsemanship skills.
Each 30-minute lesson is divided into two 15-minute sessions:
Groundwork & Horse Care
Learn basic horse safety, grooming, and tacking with an instructor.
Mounted Instruction
Develop foundational riding skills, balance, and confidence while learning to safely interact with the horse under saddle.
Riders will be introduced to two different horses during each lesson, providing a gentle opportunity to build familiarity and trust with different horses.
Important Requirements
Riders must be able to balance independently while mounted. The instructor will lead the horse throughout the lesson and cannot physically support the rider. Parents and guardians are not permitted to assist during the lesson, including mounting and dismounting.
This program is the only opportunity for riders under the age of seven to participate in lessons.
Six sessions are available. Riders may register for one or multiple dates; however, availability for additional dates cannot be guaranteed if they are added later.
Registration opens May
Please email us after this date to reserve your preferred session(s).
If your rider is particularly nervous, has physical limitations, or requires additional support, please let us know when registering so we can ensure the lesson is appropriate and safe.
